The Girlhood of Shakespeare’s Heroine’s by Mary Cowden (who edited the H.C Selous edition alongside her husband Charles), was originally published in 1850. This ‘new’ edition from 1880 features nine illustrations in ‘permanent photography’ of the key women from Shakespeare’s work.
